A few days ago, Ola Loa, the young Hawaiian monk seal has passed away after swallowing a fish hook. She underwent an emergency surgery, but sadly, after the successful hook removal, she developed post-operative complications and the veterinarians were unable to keep her alive. She was a wonderful creature and I was fortunate to watch her growing up from a newborn pup into a beautiful monk seal. In this picture, I took last April, she was seven weeks old. She loved playing with sand either with her mom or alone. We will remember her.
