February is normally the time in Hawaii for hatching the Laysan albatross (Phoebastria immutabilis) eggs. A few days ago, I visited the albatross colony at Kaena Point (Oahu) and I was happy to see that the albatross eggs have already started to hatch. I was so excited, because I’ve always wanted to take a picture of an adult albatross with its little chick. Unfortunately, the lighting conditions were not perfect for photography, however, I felt blessed to see this tender moment between this hatchling and its parent.
