Bird Photography in the Snow – Connecticut

Last week there were several snowstorms here in New England, so I found myself in my photo blind once again. My bird feeding platform in the backyard is very successful and fortunately lots of birds visiting it regularly. The only problem with it, that it’s not too easy to change it in order to have a more diverse environment between different photo sessions. There’s one place where I can quickly change one of the perches, but replacing the vertical tree trunk is a little more problematic. There’s also a snow covered horizontal log which I haven’t replaced either, so the surroundings might look similar to the ones in my previous bird photography outing. It was still fun to spend some time watching and photographing these wonderful backyard birds.

Gear: Canon EOS 5Ds camera, Canon 500mm f/4 lens, Gitzo 1340 tripod, RRS BH-55 ballhead
