Last weekend, I made a short trip to the North Shore of Oahu. The North Shore has beautiful shorelines with lot of shorebirds in winter, which is the rainy season in Hawaii. Fortunately, the weather was perfect last weekend for photographing these birds. One of the shorebirds I found, was the Ruddy Turnstone (Arenaria interpres). Its hawaiian name is akekeke. This bird is a common winter visitor in Hawaii and on other Oceanian islands. Turnstones are commonly seen in small flocks, often with other shorebirds, which made photographing them alone difficult. After an hour trying to find a lonely bird, I had luck with this freindly specimen.
